Take your vacation envy and turn it into a real vacation!

You’ve been here before, right? Please tell me I’m not the only one that has vacation envy the minute Spring hits.  Whether it’s Spring Break, Summer Vacation, or Winter break, or whenever the kids are out of school, you want to go somewhere on vacation but you just can’t for whatever the reason. You then start to see friends, family or acquaintances posting all about their fabulous vacations on social media while you sit home in your pj’s dreaming of your perfect vacation. The most you can do is “like” their posts. I’ve been there. What can you do to ease the pain of this vacation envy? My first thought is to plan your own vacation! So, I’ve come up with a few ideas for turning that vacation envy into a real vacation!

get rid of that vacation envy and turn it into a real vacation
I am in the process of doing this myself so I hope that it inspires you to do it too.  I haven’t been on a “real” trip in years, but after a tough couple of years and a total shift in my mindset, I have decided that it’s time to put that all behind me and move forward.

  1.   Make a list of your dream vacation getaways.  Go ahead, dream big!  List all the places that you think will give you joy.  If you are a visual person, you can set up a special Pinterest board (like I did) dedicated to finding my dream vacation.  You can also break your boards down to specific locations (Dallas, Chicago, Seattle, Colorado, Miami, etc).  Do whatever is easier for you.
  2.   Plan it all out, don’t be scared!  Yeah, this part will take a lot of time, but it will give you a much better idea of the cost involved.  If you are planning on taking a road trip, use travel apps that share hidden treasure spots along the way.  There are so many fun apps that will help you create the perfect vacation.  Here are a few that I have found to be quite helpful: (note that these are affiliate links and we will get a small commission on the purchase) To help organize your trip, TripIt: Travel Organizer – TripIt is a good one.  To find restaurants, gas stations, theaters, etc.., AroundMe – Flying Code Ltd.  Or, take photos of your own and create postcards by using Touchnote: The best postcards & greeting cards app – Touchnote Ltd!  When you are planning it all out, don’t forget to include groceries if you’re staying at a rental home, food expenses, souvenirs, gas, toiletries, entertainment…and so on.
  3. Visualize your trip!  This is the most fun!  Some people have a difficult time visualizing what they want.  It is something that you really have to practice when getting into the Law of Attraction.  Essentially, take a few minutes every day to visualize how your trip will go.  In your mind, describe what your vacation is like, describe how you will get there, and what will you do?  Visualize the entire trip.  Have fun with it.  The power of visualization if done correctly can prove to be an amazing tool!  But, don’t forget to bring your positive attitude with you!

Planning a trip could be stressful if you let it be.  Seeing other people have fun on their vacation could be a downer.  But, if you can completely visualize your vacation from start to finish, you’ll see that you could have one of the best trips you’ve ever had!
